After arriving late into Berlin, I settled into Eileen's apartment, who was out of town anyways, and I went to sleep. It was sort of strange being back in Berlin because everything is familiar, but you feel distant from it. Actually, I didn't really like being back at all, because all the negatives about living there jumped out at me. Berlin is quite a contrast from the rest of Germany, and it takes a special type of person to want to live there. I guess once you move there, you can find your own circle of friends and things that you like to do, but it takes a while.
One of my highlights of being in Berlin though, was the fact that I went to the Pergamon Museum. Located on the Museum Island in Berlin. The Museum has one of the largest collections of art from the antiquities, especially Babylon, Greece and the Ottoman Empires. I was really impressed and I spent a good time in the museum. I even saw the city gates to some ancient Mesopotamian city in their full size.
Berlin is a pretty walkable city but only in sections. You can't walk across the whole city, but I went to some areas where I used to go often. The best thing about Berlin are the restaurants. On average, I'd say that you really have to spend a lot to get good restaurant food in Germany,... especially Frankfurt, but in Berlin they have great Vietnamese, Thai and Turkish places that are really reasonable. I went back to a restaurant called "good time" (i know the name is cheesy, but the food is fresh and it's really clean).
Well that's it for now. Hopefully I'll be motivated enough to write another blog entry tonight.
